Community, the upgraded node wallet packages for v2.0.3 - Sapling + VaultZ activation at block 328,500 to occur on or about April 6-7th 2019 are available.

Please upgrade when you can, as the activation is about 2 weeks away. Full node wallets should be re-indexed.

The below is available now: https://github.com/btcz/bitcoinz/releases/tag/2.0.3

  1. Debian Package x64
  2. Linux x64 binary
  3. Windows x64 binary

The Windows GUI Swing wallet v2.0.3 is also available now: https://github.com/btcz/bitcoinz-wallet/releases/tag/v2.0.3

If you use Coinomi or ZelCore there is nothing to do yet, as we need to notify them to upgrade, which we will be doing over the weekend.

If you use Android (Copay), we should have a new release by the time activation occurs.

We will be notifying pools and exchanges over the weekend as well.

Please stay tuned! This is definitely an exciting moment for everyone, there is still some more coordination and work involved leading upto the upgrade.

Update Notice Regarding Android (CoPay) Wallet

Community! Please be advised the Android (CoPay) wallet may be unavailable for at least 24 hours after the Sapling + VaultZ upgrade are activated at block 328,500 on or about April 6 / 7th 2019.

The CoPay wallet and system requires an abundance of changes and testing. A lot of the changes have been implemented, but once Sapling + VaultZ activates, additional changes will need to be implemented.

What do you need to do?

Nothing, because you have your seed phrase / keys / wallet export already, right? If you do not have your seed phrase / keys / wallet export then please do that before the upgrade activation occurs.

Can I lose my coins?

Please remember, cryptocurrency is based off a technique created and continuously improved by super-brain people. The technique is called blockchain and cryptography.

So that means, if you have the backups you’re supposed to have ie. your seed phrases / keys / wallet exports, you’ll have the cryptographic keys to access your coins on the blockchain. In other words, your coins actually live on the blockchain and not inside wallets. Wallets are a gateway to the blockchain allowing you to easily communicate with the blockchain. All you need are the keys. If you have your keys, no, you should not lose your coins.

To backup your current wallet if you have not, you can follow these steps:

Backup Method 1

  1. In your CoPay wallet, goto Settings (gear icon)
  2. Choose the wallet you need to backup (example - Personal Wallet)
  3. Next choose ‘Backup’
  4. Read the on-screen instructions, if you are not being watched, choose ‘Got it’
  5. If you understand, choose, ‘I Understand’
  6. Write down the phrase on screen
  7. You have your backup now!

Backup Method 2

  1. In your CoPay wallet, goto Settings (gear icon)
  2. Choose the wallet you need to backup (example - Personal Wallet)
  3. Next, choose ‘More Options’ at very bottom of menu
  4. Choose ‘Export Wallet’
  5. Choose File/Text
  6. Enter a password twice, and REMEMBER THE PASSWORD
NOTE: when importing with the File/Text method you will need the password, if you use the wrong password it will generate completely different keys/addresses.
  7. Choose ‘Download’ and save the file
